Choosing the right vehicle may be easy for some people, but only for some of us. And I include myself in this second category. As a car journalist, I drive and test out so many cars within a year that making a choice for myself turns out to be a tricky task. Anyway, I am not here to tell you my odd preference, but more to help you if you have yet to decide what vehicle to buy.
An excellent way to start things is to choose a brand you like. There should be enough cars in your entourage, so you can decide what brand you want better than others. Then, the next thing to do is put your needs and preferences on paper and see what vehicle fits them. Unless you have particular needs, you should have more than one option.
If you made it this far into this article, it is probably because you chose Hyundai as a brand, and an SUV is what could work the best for you. So, now, which one is it? Let's look at every SUV and crossover currently available in Hyundai's lineup and what they offer.
2023 Venue - $23,288
With the average new vehicle cost $45,000, getting your hands on a brand-new vehicle is more complicated than ever. Well, there might be an option for you in Hyundai's lineup: the Venue, the most affordable SUV you can get on the market. However, don't be fooled by its price because the subcompact SUV offers decent standard equipment.
2023 Kona - $25,288
The Hyundai Kona quickly became one of the most popular vehicles in its category thanks to the fact it offers several powertrains and a very dynamic look. The 2023 Kona is available with EV and performance powertrains.
2023 Ioniq 5 - $51,635
The Ioniq 5 is the model that really put Hyundais on the electric vehicle map. Its futuristic look makes heads turn around, and it is also a lot of fun to drive. However, if you like this vehicle, you should know the waiting list is almost two years long. Most people will tell you it is worth the wait, though.
2023 Tucson - $31,138
For me, the Tucson is kind of the go-to option. You can't miss your shot with the compact Korean SUV. It is available in both hybrid and PHEV versions. If you have no specific needs and don't know which vehicle to choose, this is your best bet. You can't go wrong here.
2023 Santa Fe - $40,088
The Santa Fe has always been one of the best vehicles in the Korean manufacturer lineup. It got a little expensive over the years, but it is worth every penny if you want my opinion.
2023 Palisade - $50,688
The Palisade has been a true discovery for me. The Korean SUV is luxurious and practical, costing much less than most of its rivals.
2023 Nexo - $73,686
The Hyundai Nexo is the brand's most expensive vehicle, and there is an excellent reason for that. It is one of the very few fuel cell production vehicles currently available on the market. Unless you are familiar with this type of powertrain and have a hydrogen station near your home, I won't recommend this vehicle.
